NPN transistor A two-junction (bipolar)
semiconductor transistor
with an N-type collector
and emitter and a P-type
base. An NPN transistor is formed by
introducing a thin region of P-type
semiconductor material between two regions of N-type
material. An NPN transistor is
"triggered" when its base is brought
high. Go here for more
details on transistors in
general; go here
for a discussion of transistor
usage in BEAM robots. Compare
PNP transistor. Note that both
PNP and NPN are TLAs.
